    Assessments

    Reading and Listening tests

Two new tests that measure how well a candidate understands a language, in English and German. Twenty adaptive questions in about 15 minutes, with a CEFR level the moment they finish.

    1. On screen: White text on a dark background.

“Speaking and writing show what your candidates can say.”

    2. On screen: "Now measure what they understand", above two labels, Reading and Listening.

“Now you can measure what they understand, with our new Reading and Listening tests.”

    3. On screen: A Reading screen: a magazine article about a street that bans cars once a month, beside a question asking what the highlighted phrase "gained traction" means. The candidate chooses "Become increasingly popular" and moves on.

“Reading uses real texts, pitched at each candidate’s level.”

    4. On screen: A Listening screen: two speakers, a progress bar marked "Play 1 of 2", and a question asking why the man wants to move a local fair from the park. A short part of the recording plays, and the candidate chooses "Recent weather has made the ground unsuitable."

“Listening uses real conversations between two voices, and each recording plays twice.”

Question, read aloud: “Man: The ground is still really soft from all that rain we had in April. Woman: I see what you mean.”

    5. On screen: Eight short Part 1 tasks are marked right or wrong, six of eight right, and a line leads to the middle of three Part 2 routes: B1, B2 and C1. Below: 20 questions, about 15 minutes, every answer counts.

“The test adapts as they go. The first eight tasks decide what comes next.”

    6. On screen: A sample result for one candidate: Reading B2, 15 of 20 correct, and Listening B1, 13 of 20 correct, each on the A1 to C2 scale. Instant, and on the same scale as Speaking and Writing.

“And the moment they finish, you get a CEFR level, on the same scale as Speaking and Writing.”

    7. On screen: The Evalingo logo and "Reading and Listening, now live": instant CEFR result, on their own or with Speaking and Writing, phone or laptop. Start free at evalingo.ai.
